The Warburton One-Name Study incorporates a DNA Study and has already determined that the name has a single locational origin in the village of Warburton in Cheshire, but multiple original adopters of the name. The principal of these adopters, the ancestor of 25-30% of all Warburtons, is descended from a Norman knight, Odard de Dutton, whose male line ancestry can be traced by DNA to Western Germany and is linked to half the Royal houses of Europe, including that of Britain.
