Public Newsletters from the Guild One of the Guild aims is to educate the public about the wonderful world of one-name studies. Research into a single surname can lead to fascinating discoveries, new research techniques, and collaborations with other researchers. If you are interested in taking your genealogical research deeper, or are looking for a different approach to that annoying brickwall in your family tree, then one-name studies might be for you. Many of our events and webinars are available to non-members and you can find details about them by searching the Events part of this website. For a while we offered a monthly (or thereabouts!) newsletter, to give non-members a taste of what was going on at the Guild. These included free learning opportunities and events, and we designed to give you a little insight into what one-name studies are all about, to tempt you into taking your research “beyond family history”. Our organisation is run completely by volunteers and, unfortunately, we don’t have a volunteer to write the newsletters at present. Some previous issues can be accessed below. We do still operate a non-members’ mailing list and send out information from time to time. Hopefully, in due course, the newsletters may resume. If you would like to sign up to our mailing list in the meantime, then click the link below. You will also receive a free PDF copy of our booklet “Researching Surnames: a guide to one-name studies“. We won’t share your details with anyone else and you are free to unsubscribe at any time.
