By location Towards a World Bibliography of Personal Names Towards… because this is just a limited effort to fill a gap and when the International Council of Onomastic Sciences (ICOS) Bibliography appears in 2008, its future will be re-considered. With thanks to Ed Lawson for his generosity in allowing me to reproduce some of his collected references and abstracts, alongside my own collection of references (some needing copy-checking – beware). This bibliography is constructed around continents and nations (rather than a linguistic approach) purely out of convenience (for me). As such its scope is limited. Hence it covers neither names in literature, nor names in religion. Countries have been grouped in line with the United Nations’ Standard Country and Area Code classification.
