Those Who Served Seminar

Nearly every generation has known war. Whether press-ganged, patriotic or penniless, many of our ancestors served, at sea, on land or in the air. Our speakers will arm us with the knowledge to track ancestors from the Peninsular Wars, the Militia, Chelsea Pensioners, prisoners of war/internees, nautical women and to unearth Army, Navy and RAF records. The target is to improve our tactics and strengthen our campaign!

Applications to attend are welcome from Guild members, family historians, genealogists, and members of the general public having an interest in the subject matter.

The seminar cost including refreshments and buffet lunch is £22.00 (including VAT).

Stock is on the B1007 south of the A12 and 5.9 miles from Chelmsford; there is free parking on site. If travelling by train, there are 3 buses an hour from Chelmsford bus station to Stock – or please contact us for help in finding a lift from Chelmsford station..  A local map is available here.

We are delighted, after the past 18 months, to be able to once again plan for an in person event.  We have use of both halls at the venue; the main hall accommodates 120 which will afford us plenty of space for those who wish to continue to maintain some social distancing.  Other COVID-19 arrangements will be put in place as appropriate.

An accommodation listing will be available here in due course.  A number of delegates and members of the organising committee will be staying Friday night at the Premier Inn Brentwood and will meet for dinner in the on-site Thyme Bar and Grill.

Booking

Booking for the seminar will open on September 1st 2021.  To book on this seminar, you can use our online form¹ in any of three ways:

Book online and pay online via PayPal or credit card;

For Guild members, book online and pay by direct bank transfer through your bank, quoting the reference number on the form (this is the method which represents the least cost to the Guild);

Fill in the booking form online, then print it and send it through the post with your cheque.

Bookings close on 10th October 2021.

All online bookings made by bank transfer or PayPal will receive an automatic system generated email confirmation and bookings made by cheque will be acknowledged upon receipt. All bookings will then be confirmed by email, with full joining instructions, on or shortly after, the closing date; if you don’t then receive any of these emails please email to check that your booking has been received.
