Webinar Series Summer 2021 – Technology Tools for Your Study The Guild is fortunate to have John Cardinal to present three webinars for us over the next 8 weeks. The series, Technology Tools for Your Study looks to be an interesting series that will inspire Guild members and genealogists alike on how they can publish and preserve their research. The series comprises of the following: 16 June Gedcom Publisher Recording & Handout Available 7 July ORA Recording & Handout Available 28 July GedSite Recording & Handout Available A second series looking at Technology Tools for your Study will take place in the Autumn/Fall of 2021, you can read more and register for the webinars HERE Attendance to the webinars is available to both members and to non-members. Attendance is FREE of charge though you do need to register, using the links shown. The webinars will each last around an hour, including time for questions and will be at: 7.30pm British Summer Time (BST). About the webinars: Gedcom Publisher John Cardinal will demonstrate Gedcom Publisher, a Windows application that creates an electronic book from your GEDCOM file. Several program features will be explained, including how to select the people to include, several methods to assign people to chapters, and how to add custom chapters to tell your story, your way. Gedcom Publisher supports most GEDCOM files, but has custom support for GEDCOM files written by RootsMagic, Family Historian, Legacy, Family Tree Maker, and other popular genealogy programs. ORA – Online Repository Assistant John Cardinal will demonstrate ORA, the Online Repository Assistant, a browser extension for the most popular Windows browsers. ORA supercharges your browser to automate data entry when extracting data from online repositories. GedSite John Cardinal will demonstrate GedSite, a Windows application that creates HTML pages from your GEDCOM file. Several program features will be explained, including how to select people to include, how to customize the individual profiles, and how to customize the look and feel of the pages. GedSite supports most GEDCOM files, but has custom support for GEDCOM files written by RootsMagic, Family Historian, Legacy, Family Tree Maker, and other popular genealogy programs. About the Presenter: John Cardinal is a technologist with over forty years of experience developing software and managing software development projects. Early in his career he crafted solutions for customer information systems and applications, and is one of two primary designers of the first business applications to use super-computer technology. He has been interested in genealogy since 1990 and is the author of several genealogy programs including GedSite, Gedcom Publisher, ORA, and Second Site. He is the founder or co-founder of several businesses, most recently, Family History Hosting, a web hosting service for genealogists and family historians.
