Leonard Hagger
Birth Date: 1898
Death Date: 22 Jun 1916
Service Branch: Army
Service Number: 10810
Story:

Leonard HAGGER – Some info from www.thriplow.org.uk
Private 10810 11th Bn., Suffolk Regiment who died on Thursday, 22nd June 1916. Age 24. Son of Walter and Jane Hagger, of Thriplow, nr. Royston, Herts. Buried in BOISGUILLAUME COMMUNAL CEMETERY, Seine-Maritime, France. Grave I. E. 7.

Despite the fact that there have been Haggers in Thriplow since 1608 there are not many records of Leonard in the Registers. He was born on 27th February 1892 and was admitted to Thriplow School on 17th June 1895 at the age of three as was common in those days; his parents Walter and Jane (nee Kemp). He left school in 1909 aged 14. In both the 1901 and 1911 census he was living with his parents and siblings at The Green Thriplow and in 1911 he was labourer on a fruit farm.

We have not researched the ancestry of Leonard but it likely they came from Essex rather than Triplow as his father Walter was born in Essex.
