Story:

James Edward Haggar – Able Seaman Royal Naval Reserve, Nelson Bn Died 29 April 1917 and commemorated on Arras Memorial.

James Edward was born in Hackney on 21 Nov 1895 and baptised at St James the Great Church.  His parents were James William Henry Haggar and Rebecca (nee Price).  In 1901, age 5, he was living in Limehouse with his parents and his brother William George, his father was Lock keeper.  In 1911 the family were still together in Limehouse and James Edward was shown as a Shop assistant. By the time he joined the Navy he was shown as a paper porter.

We can trace James Edwards ancestry back to John and Sarah who had a son James at about 1776 in Therfield whom James Edward is descended. James Edward was the 3 x Great Grandson of John and Sarah.
