Harry Victor Hagger – Died 07 Nov 1915 Gallipoli, Turkey, Killed in Action. No. 10338 Private 1st Battalion Borders Regiment. Buried in Lancashire Landing Cemetery, Turkey.
Harry Victor was born in Clapton, part of the Hackney Registration District in 1890. He was one of six children (2 boys and 4 girls) of William Hagger and Emily Swallow who were married in 1884 in Bethnal Green. Emily died in 1911. In 1901 he was living with his parents and all his siblings at Mandeville Street, Hackney and his father was a Coal Carman. By the 1911 Harry’s mother had died and he was living with his father and all his siblings at Dennis Street, Islington and his father was now a Horse Keeper and Harry was a Railway Porter.
We can trace Harry’s ancestry back to his Great Grandfather George Haggar and Susan Flack (or Hawk), they were married in 1816 at Barkway, Hertfordshire and George was born there in 1796, we know George’s father was Thomas Haggar.
