Story:

Ernest Hagger – Died of wounds 24th May 1918, France & Flanders.  Pioneer, Royal Engineers, 9th Foreway Company Service No 203893.  Buried Boulogne Eastern Cemetery.
Awarded Victory and British War medals.  Enlisted Rotherham.
Son of George Robert (known as Robert) and Alice Hagger of 27 Psaltters Lane, Rotherham.  Born 1899 at West Bromwich according to 1901 and 1911 census but no birth registration found.
Earnest was living with his parents and siblings May, Jessie and Elizabeth in 1901 at 65 Garner Street, Stoke Upon Trent, Staffordshire.  In 1911 he was living iwth his drandmother Sarah Fox at 186 Oak Road, West Browich, Staffordshire.
We can trace Ernest’s ancestry back to Joseph Hagger and Dorothy, Joseph was born in about 1791 in Melbourn, Cambridgeshire where he was Harness maker and where he married Dorothy in 1819, they were Ernest’s GreatGrandparents.
