Story:

Edmund signed up for Army Service on 6 December 1893 at the age of 18 years and 1 month. He signed up at Bury St Edmunds in Susffolk.

He was born at Framlingham in Suffolk the son of John & Ellen Scotchmer (nee Barthrop). He came from a large family.

His description on Attestation was  Height 5 feet 5 inches, Weight 119lbs Complexion Fresh, Eyes Blue, Hair Brown and his religion is shown as Church of England.

The only time he served abroad was between January 1896 and May 1907. His service kept being extended and during the Great War he ended up as a Trainer in the Cyclist Battalion of the Norfolk Regiment. When he finally left the Army in April 1919 he had served 25 years. On his discharge his wife was living in Bridlington North Yorkshire.

He Married Edith Margaret Horrey at St Cement Ipswich on 15 Sept 1907. They had three children :- Doris born 1909 at Ipswich, John (also known as Jack) born 1910 at Wells Next Sea in Norfolk and Olive born 1913 at Fakenham in Norfolk.

He appears to have been in Framlingham in WW2 as I have been sent the scan of an envelope addressed to him at Station Road Framlingham in WWII (Thanks Simon)

Not much more is known about Edmund apart from the fact that he died at Rochford in Essex in 1963.
