WISEMAN is my father's family name and when initially researching his family tree, I traced the family back to late 17th century Norfolk, but found I could go no further as the relevant part of the parish register I needed, was illegible. However, on that journey I became aware that there were a great many WISEMANs in Norfolk, which may or may not be related. This sparked my interest!

I eventually began my one name study in 2019 and now have in excess of 5000 WISEMANs, predominantly in England, at this time. Indeed, I have found that WISEMAN is a much more common name than I had ever imagined, and they occur in almost every English county. Had I realised this at the time, I might never have embarked on such a study!
