About the study

This Surname study has been set up initially to follow the UVEDALE family group which has been found in Cork City in Ireland from 1700 to 1890.
It is also open to any UVEDALE surname research around the world and currently includes the surname variants D'Ovedale, Dovedale and Woodall.

A more well known members of my family in Cork is Samuel Uvedale the Artist. He died tragically in Cork City in 1866
Images of the two recent sales of his work can be found at mutualart.com

One of the reasons for adding UVEDALE to the Guild is to find out how the Cork family line links in to the other records of the surname in England.
To confuse matters further, it is also used as a first name. For example the Gardener and Antiquary Sir Uvedale Price is well recorded.

A useful starting point is this detailed Pedigree with notes by G Levenson Gower esq published in the 1865 edition of the Surrey Archaeological Society.
It is available as a free ebook on google play. The link is below.
