About the study

I decided to register the MORBIN surname with the Guild because it is so rare it doesn't appear in any surname directories. I have been researching the MORBIN suname since 2000. I am researching the name worldwide, but it is such a rare name, I have only found it in a few countries, England, France, Italy, Canada, Spain and Brazil.

Name frequency

There are only 18 instances of the MORBIN surname on the 1881 census which probably makes it one of the rarest one-name studies!

Distribution of the name

All the MORBIN'S that I have found so far in England (also the Canadian branch, and one contact in Spain) have originated from one common ancestor, John Morbin born c1800 in Southwark, London.

Data

I have extracted all instances of the MORBIN surname from 1837 to date, from the birth, marriage and death indexes held at the Family Records Centre in London. The name does not appear in Scotland or Ireland.
