About the study

Setting up his one name study I would like to investigate the orgins of the Mapperson surname and also where in the world we have moved to.

I am from Australia, and I know that the Mappersons who immigrated arriving from England in 1853 from Castle Bytham, Lincolnshire England. Brothers Henry Mapperson born 1816 and his wife Jane Dexter b 1819 and their family. Also, his younger brother Charles Mapperson born 1830 and his wife Mary Ann Hale born 1829 and their family this is my family line.

The most distant ancestor that has been found is Francis Mapperson, Pickworth, Rutland, in circa 1779 who was married to Susannah Inglis born in Colesterworth, 1787. These are the parents of brothers Henry and Charles.

As I gather information, I will put up maps and charts showing everyone where we all live and how the name came into being.

Being the name together with the people from all over the world.  I hope to document its distribution I am just beginning but hopefully I can add a DNA study later. Please get in touch.

Maree Croxon nee Mapperson
