I married into the Lynam family and wanted to create a family history for my descendants and it has been a privilege to correspond with other Lynam researchers sharing information. In particular I am grateful to the late Valerie Jones (née Lynam) who researched the Derbyshire Lynam name for many years and who shared her considerable knowledge so generously. My own research would have been so much the poorer without her support and input. Thanks must also go to Davina Bradley who has allowed me access to all Valerie's research documentation and for her encouragement in continuing the Lynam research.
There is also quite a bit of information on the families into which the Lynams married. The links to the Lynam wives were important to both of us.
Most of the Derbyshire Lynams can be traced back to William Lynam (c1515–1585) and Cecilia Lynam (c1515–1583) in the North Wingfield area. Some of their descendants were Quakers whose history makes for fascinating reading.
The Lynam collection is still in creation and will develop in the future. There are many wills and biographies to be transcribed and added.
Although the current collection focuses on the Lynam name in Derbyshire it is intended to extend this study to include Lynams from elsewhere.
Please note this site was created many years before the advent of WordPress and other web design programmes. It was created using HTML by an enthusiastic amateur (me). Also, it is the result of combining two data bases (mine and Valerie Jones). As a result there are a few typos and layout glitches which I am slowly correcting (there are over 5,700 records). The original databases were for our own personal use and not for public display. Please contact me with errors in case I should overlook any. I hope there are no errors of fact as Valerie and I tried to check and double check using original sources.
To protect people's privacy anyone born after 1920 without a death date is only recorded by their surname and no personal date recorded.

There are a few variations of the Lynam name, most commonly Lineham and Lynham
