My interest in the Lyfords sprang to life in the mid 1980s when I began to research my mother's ancestry. Her maiden name was Lyford. I traced back to a Richard Lyford born abt1791...... somewhere in England, probably in the London area, or Berkshire. Having become stuck I decided to record all refs to the unusual surname LYFORD in the hope that, one day, they would become relevant to me. After a while I realised that these references were forming patterns and I began to sort out the various family groups. Once started I could not stop!
I now collect all Lyford data worldwide.

It's been an absorbing hobby and I've made contact with Lyfords, and their descendants, all around the world.....Australia, New Zealand, America, Canada, Uruguay, Norway etc. However, this material is useless unless it's shared/exchanged with like-minded folk. It's surprising how often I can put far-distant cousins into contact with each other.
