I have only recently registered my One Name Study, so this is very much work in progress.
Jacombs was my Grandmother's maiden name, her father (my Great Grandad) was George Robert Jacombs. Having discovered details about George Robert I feel an akin to him, somewhat more than I do to any other relatives on my journey of discovery.
The Jacombs go back to the 16th century in my family tree although I must point out that many of those are currently unverified. The majority of the Jacombs in the tree resided in Warwickshire and Leicestershire.
Variants of the name recorded in my tree are Jacomb, Jacam, Jacombe
I am unable to say with any certainty the orgins of the surname Jacombs, however there has been suggestion that may have originated from a village in Northamptonshire called 'Chacombe'.
During the study I hope I will be able to provide more clarity on the origin of the name.
