Category: 1 - A study where research using core genealogical datasets and transcriptions is in its early stages.
Contact: Mr Christopher Clothier
I started by putting together a family tree after my Grandfather died in 1991. He had done a lot of research into the family name. As time went on I started hitting brick walls, because of this I lost interest, then I decided as I had collected a lot of information about other branches of the Clothier family I should use this information to search for the links between these branches and how we are all related.
Clother is one variant I have come across but I have also found an early variant or spelling which is Clothyer.
The name Clothier is in Countries Worldwide the UK, Australia, America, Canada New Zealand. My branch started in Stoke Sub Hamdon in Somerset then to Portsmouth Hampshire, in the early 1800's they moved to Woolwich, London and then spread out from there.
The information on Clothier and variants is collected from every available source.
I have started to collect data on the Variant Clother from the 1841, 1881, 1901, 1911 census and also the 1939 register
