This study will build on an extensive family tree headed by Samuel Blissard and wife Sarah from Shipton Moyne, Gloucestershire in the mid 1600s to their present day descendants. Some of these emigrated to America and Canada, regions for future exploration. Research is ongoing for several other Blizzard families not connected in other parts of southern England. 

The main variants are Blizzard, Blizard and to a smaller extent, Blissard. However, I also hope to explore in due course the names Blezzard and Bleazard which are found almost exclusively in the north of England, mainly Lancashire and Yorkshire.
