This page outlines the nature and individuals involved in past and present study of the Blencowe name. Daphne Austin a Guild member is currently the prime Researcher for the family name and is completing a massive research project. Early research of the Blencowe name culminated in 1985 of a Blencowe Families Association BFA being formed for further research and contribution from family members. Jack Blencowe from Oxford, England was soon involved and assisted by Jill Dudbridge and others in England and Australia, the Blencowe research became the foundation of the BFA.
The Blencowe One-Name Study will also contain the results of two major studies of the men and women with the Blencowe name who served in the World Wars. This work is being carried out by Roger Blinko a retired senior executive who has since 2012 been researching and writing profiles for each Blencowe who served. In 2018 the first study ‘Blencowes in WW1’ was published on another website but recently it is being ported to the ONS website to be maintained by The Guild of One-Name Studies. The second project ‘Blencowes in WW2’ is underway and about 40% complete and also appears on this ONS website. Its a work-in-progress so some pages of the study are published others are still in draft. As information is gathered the web pages will be updated.
