Researching Jewish Genealogy Sources for Your One Name Study – Webinar Posted 7 July 2022 by Julie GoucherYesterday we welcomed Guild Member, Jeanette Rosenberg, OBE, who will speak about naming practices, surname adoption, name changes and some of the Jewish genealogy one-name studies and also provide information about useful Jewish genealogy sources and resources that people with non-Jewish genealogy specific one name studies can use for their research and one name studies. The talk will help people find their way around Jewish genealogy sources for their one name studies, whether they are Jewish last names or not, and the talk will cover worldwide resources and sources of information. About the Speaker Jeanette R Rosenberg OBE is a professional genealogist and AGRA member, (Association of Genealogists & Researchers in Archives). Jeanette holds the Postgraduate Diploma in Genealogical Studies from Strathclyde University. A popular and knowledgeable Jewish/general genealogy speaker around the UK and beyond, Jeanette regularly researches at archives in Germany, and has participated in local history seminars there. Jeanette leads for JGS Great Britain on Education/Mentoring, exhibitions, outreach and on social media. She also chairs JGSGB’s German Sig and was a GerSIG (at JewishGen) Director from 2009-19, Jeanette previously led on GerSIG’s IAJGS conference guest speaker arrangements, she’s also the genealogy representative on the Wiener Holocaust Library’s ITS Oversight Committee, strategically managing Britain’s copy of the ITS Arolsen Archive.
