My name is Andrea Cordani and I am the descendant of an Italian immigrant who settled in the UK.

In Italy the name occurs most frequently in the regions of Emilia-Romagna and Lombardia.

My initial interest in doing a one-name study arose simply from my curiosity to know whether other members of the relatively small number of CORDANI families in the UK were related to me, or not.

In 2005 I visited my own ancestor's place of birth in Groppo Ducale, a frazione (hamlet) within the comune of Bettola, in the province of Piacenza, in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy.

Since then I have been collecting CORDANI names and I registered this study in 2016.

On this you will find reconstructed trees from the civil records of various comune.  At present, this is mainly Bettola and San Bernardino, but will be expanded to other areas.
