RTE Stills Library. http://www.thejournal.ie Irish ancestry research has the reputation of being tricky due to the destruction of key records and compounded by the partition of Ireland, but this talk will cover how you can get started with your Irish family history. We will dispel the myths about which records were destroyed in 1922, which records are still available and best of all which are free. The talk will cover the key record sets to enable you to make a start on finding your Irish ancestors. Attendees will gain an understanding in: Gain an understanding of which records were destroyed in 1922 and which survive Discover more about the key archives where Irish records are stored Become aware of where different record sets may be found and which can be accessed free of charge The webinar contains references to material in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Because of the large Irish diaspora around the world, there are many who are interested in finding out more about researching their Irish ancestry. About the Speaker Natalie Bodle, used with permission Natalie is a full-time professional genealogist, educator, author and is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG). She is a regular speaker on the local, national and international circuit on Irish genealogy topics and her first book is due to be published by Pen and Sword. A native of County Antrim, her company Roots Revealed is based in Ballymena, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. She has a Post Graduate Certificate in Genealogical Studies from the University of Strathclyde having built upon many years of Irish family history research experience.
