2018 Webinar Series – No 2 The Joy of Surnames with Debbie Kennett This is the second webinar in the Guild’s 2018 ten-part webinar series. The Joy of Surnames provides an overview of the history and distribution of surnames, with a particular focus on surnames originating in the British Isles. The one-name study approach can sometimes provide breakthroughs that would not be possible by restricting research to your own family tree. Learn how genealogists can discover more about their own surnames and make a major contribution to the field of surname research. Debbie Kennett is well-known in the family history world for both surname studies and applications of DNA to family history. Debbie is a member of ISOGG and the co-founder of the ISOGG Wiki. She is the administrator of the Cruwys/Cruse/Cruise DNA Project, the Devon DNA Project and the mtDNA Haplogroup U4 Project. She has written two books for the History Press – The Surnames Handbook (2012) & DNA and Social Networking (2011). Debbie is a long-time member of the Guild of One-Name Studies, and publishes the Cruwys News blog about her one-name study.
