Recording data If you visit Record Offices or other repositories to search for information, try to develop a system for recording the information you find. Remember to record the source, the date the information was collected, and the records searched. It is frustrating to come across a scrap of paper later with a piece of vital information on it, with no indication of where it came from and when. Many Record Offices now allow the use of laptops or hand-held computers. A few allow digital photography of documents. It is best to check in advance what is permissible. And always check opening times and charges before you visit.
