Publicity Materials for UK & Europe Posters In the past, a lot of ad-hoc posters of variable quality have been produced by members. The Guild is keen to protect its brand image and the following posters have Guild approval. The Library Poster The Library poster, often referred to as “Digging” is an A4 poster designed for display in libraries and similar venues. It was developed from Peter Rugman’s original winning design. (This design is also used on some of our roll-up stand banners.) It is intended to let non-member genealogists know about the Guild and how our members’ studies may help them. It is available in several versions: UK / Europe version Exploring Your Surname “Exploring Your Surname” – this is a general purpose A4 recruitment poster. UK / Europe version Guild Benefits This A3 poster, adapted by Karen Bailey from an original design by Anne Shankland, is intended to assist the explanation of the benefits of joining the Guild to visitors at events. Download the PDF version A3 Names Posters This triple set of A3 posters features all our main study names (no variants). Not many venues have the space to display this and the public need to get quite close to read the text. You can download the version created in February 2018 here. Newer versions available on request. There is also a poster size version of the newest leaflet, PL5. See the next section to view and download this. Leaflets The most useful leaflets to have are the Membership Application Form (known as PL2) and the Publicity Flyers (PL4 & PL5). PL2 is available in different country versions to cope with different currencies and paper sizes. PL4 needs to be printed on coated (glossy) paper. The newest flyer, PL5, has an optional reverse side and is available in A4, A3, or US Letter Sizes. Please use the New Item Request form at the top left of this page to order. Download PDFs for these banners below: Roller Banner – Blue Roller Banner – White The Guild Bookmark This is a useful item to give away at genealogical events. It needs to be printed on coated card by a professional printer. There are two versions currently available: BM1: “What is your oldest possesion?” and BM2: “Seven Pillars”. BM1 UK Guild Banner and Badge The Guild banner image is available in several forms, types and formats to meet individual needs. It can be provided in Guild Blue & Gold (as here) and also White on Blue, Black and White, with or without a transparent background or even as a white over transparent image for use on a blue tee-shirt, for example. It can be provided as JPG, PNG, GIF or in vector form (EPS or PDF). But above all, when using the Banner for printing, you need a file with an appropriate size to deliver at least 300 dots/inch. The Guild banners found elsewhere in the Members’ Room are only suitable for images on regular websites. I have many pre-built versions which will often meet your needs, be it a tiny logo for a social networking website or a massive image for an exhibition banner or table-cloth. For these reasons, it is best to e-mail me with your requirements. However, for those that just want a blue on white JPG banner for heading up an A4 document, the version here should be suitable for display between 3 and 6 inches wide. In cases where there isn’t space for the banner and the context is clear, the smaller Guild Badge (left) may be used. On some social media websites, a circular logo is required, so exceptionally it can be used without the square border in those situations. Guild Letterhead If you need to write letters on behalf of the Guild, we recommend the use of the Guild Letterhead Word Template which can be downloaded here. Business Cards The standard Guild business card can be downloaded here, or with bleed margin here. If you need a bespoke design, please get in touch. For small print runs, it is often better to purchase ‘press-out’ cards you can print from your PC with the right software, or by using a template, such as this Word document. Online printers are also available for larger print runs, but for UK use, our own printers might be worth a quote first. Note that many printers need an image in CMYK colour encoding, whereas most photo programs only output JPGs in RGB. The images provided above are CMYK, which is why they might not look the right colour when viewed on a PC screen. If you are unsure what to do, please get in touch.
