Guild of One-Name Studies
One-name studies, Genealogy
Bear with me while I compose this page - I am new to this and may ramble on a bit!
I have been researching my family tree for a number of years and have just about got back as far as I think I can get, so this is what I have at the moment:
I have traced my line of Pick's back to the North Riding of Yorkshire (Thirsk area to be specific) to a Richard Pick of Great Ouseburn b: 1645. There seem to be several Pick families in the north of England around this time; no doubt they are related, but I have not found to link, yet. I am hoping that this study may add to my overall understanding of the wider family in time.
I am aware that there are Pick families in the United States, Australia and New Zealand (where I emigrated to some years ago): there are no doubt other Picks in many other countries also.
While I understand my line of the Pick name is UK-based, Pick is also a European family name with instances cropping up in (the old) Czechoslovakia and Belgium/Netherlands, so could there be a common link?
I have had a DNA analysis performed on myself, but so far I have not found any other Pick's through this means. I do not have a web site, nor am I likely to in the near future.
