Guild of One-Name Studies
One-name studies, Genealogy
The Cazaly family were French Huguenots. Huguenots is the name given to the French Calvinist Protestants of the 16th and 17th centuries. There was unmerciful persecution of the Huguenots for many years in France.
A prominent Cazaly family escaped from France in approximately 1745 consisting of a widow, Madame Marguerette Cazaly, and up to 12 children. It appears from many years of research that most if not all known Cazalys in subsequent years throughout the world are descended from this family.
A family tree of CAZALY and associated descendants can be found at http://www.shade.id.au/Cazaly/Cazaly.htm and any correspondence about this would be welcomed.
