The name Breeson is often incorrectly spelt and transcribed, so I started to document all occurrences of the name I found in the hope that one day they would tie into my existing Family Tree. But some thirty-five years later some people on the list are still refusing to fit in!
The earliest Breeson I have is a John Breeson born circa 1680 in Lincolnshire, from here families moved to Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire, Nottinghamshire, London and Sussex.
In the study conducted by Leicester University, comparing the 1881 Census and 1998 occurrence of the name there were fewer than 100 people with the name in the later year.
There are instances of the name in small numbers throughout the UK as well as the USA, Canada, France and Australia.
