Webinar - My ancestor was on the 1921 census – well they should have been with John Hanson

5 July 2023

7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Guild contact: Julie Goucher

The lecture will look at the history behind the 1921, its release, and the problems that exist in trying to find people. As always about 90% of people will be easy but it is that missing 10% that can be so frustrating.

So, we will try to show how to get the best from it and find those elusive people. Attendees will gain an understanding of the benefits and the limitations of the 1921 census and hopefully how to find their ancestors.

About the Speaker

Copyright John Hanson, used with permission

John Hanson worked for many years for one of the country’s major banks, ending up as a Systems Specialist in mainframe databases. He took early retirement in 2001 with the intention of concentrating more on his own family history but has failed!

John has been a lecturer and teacher in family history for over twenty years, particularly on computers in genealogy and the census. A former trustee of the Society of Genealogists for over twelve years and served on the committee of the Guild of One-Names studies for several years. He is currently the research director of the Halsted Trust (an educational charity) and is a Fellow of Society of Genealogists.

About the webinar

The webinar is open to all to attend. It is FREE although registration is required. The webinar will be recorded and will be available to the public for 10 days.
