About the Orders One-Name Study

The ORDERS One-Name Study began in 1953 when I was sent, unsolicited, a copy of the Genealogical Quarterly (now defunct) in which the name Orders appeared in the Cambridge area. Subsequent research produced two, unconnected lines: in Cambridgeshire (my own) from 1756 and Wiltshire from c1660. Trees in Australia, originating from two ORDERS emmigrants in the USA descending from a JONAS ORDERS who arrived there c1770 but, despite research, his place of origin in the UK has not been traced
