A new study, encompassing Brighams from around the world.
Having hunted around for several years I've come to the conclusion that the origin or the Brigham Surname is most definately - inconclusive. My dad's nose always suggested there was a bit of Roman Blood in there somewhere, but who really knows how these things come about?
I've tried to find a 'worthy' and/or famous Brigham to brag about, but all I keep coming up with is Brigham-Young - and he doesn't sound like a thoroughbred to me. I suppose there was Paul Brigham, the notorious New York swindler (New York Times, 12th January 1896); does he count? Charles Brigham made it big as the Chairman of Watertown Cooperative Bank; there's the noble Brigham Pipe - supposedly in a class of its own and then, most importantly of all, Brigham’s Ice Cream!
Not done much really, have we?
If you know better then please let me know.
Brighams have been 'spotted' around the world; particularly in the UK, USA and Australia. While branches of my own family tree moved to the States & Australia, I know that they were not the first to make this journey.
While there is still some debate over the validity of current DNA testing methods used for genealogical tracking, I will be maintaining a database of all submitted test results. For more on DNA testing, please see www.dna.brigham.org.uk
