The time may come when you decide to put your study on a more formal basis by creating a one-name society for the name. The Guild has produced a sample Constitution for One-Name Societies, which may be helpful if you are planning to set one up. A properly constituted one-name society is a pre-requisite for Category A Guild members.

Societies cannot become Guild members in their own right (although they may belong to the Federation of Family History Societies). Each One-Name Society that is associated with a Guild registered name is required to nominate one member to be the Guild Category A member to represent the society and take on the same obligations as other members.
