This study of the Hoyland surname is currently in it's infancy but growing. It will have a global scope, eventually spreading out to Hoylands around the world. The study will look for anyone with the name Hoyland but will not usually include the families of female Hoylands once they change their name on marriage. If you have any Hoyland stories, records or other information you would like to share please get in touch. I am also keen to hear from any Hoylands who have done or would like to do a Y-DNA test and have now set up a Y-DNA project for the Hoyland surname with FamilyTreeDNA. I can order a test on your behalf at a discounted price through the Guild, so let me know if you'd like to do this.
My inspiration for embarking on this search through time and place for Hoyland people is the centenary of my late mother Rachel Hoyland who was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire on 16th July 1916.
