“35 Years On – The Way Forward”

The 35th Guild Conference is another great opportunity to meet other Guild members from around the world, as well as learning from the fascinating lectures given by various speakers during the course of the weekend.

Friday 11th April

19:30-20:30 Peter Hagger: Review of the Guild’s Constitution in the Kent Suite
20:30-21:30 Bob Ogley: Kent in the 19th Century in the “Kent Suite”

Saturday 12th April

Saturday starts with the Annual General Meeting after the official opening of the Conference by the Guild President.

09:00-10:30 Welcome and Opening of the Conference – Guild President followed by theAnnual General Meeting in the Kent Suite

11:00-12:00 Dick Eastman: Keynote Speaker sharing his vision of the future of genealogy and family history for One-Namers
12:00-13:00 Dr Paul Cullen: Family Names of the UK – Kentish Surnames
13:00-14:00 Lunch in the Horizon Restaurant
13:00-14:00 Committee meeting in the Courtyard Suite
14:00-16:00 Panel Session: How I run my study – a discussion panel of One-Name experts revealing their different approaches to conducting their studies.   Bob Cumberbatch will be chairing and acting as moderator for this session in which the following will be telling you how they undertake their One-Name Studies:

  • Tessa Keough studying the surname Keough
  • Paul Howes studying the surname Howes and House
  • Colin Spencer studying the surname Lefever
